For camp directors
SummerCampAdvisor publishes reviews of teen camps written by former campers. Your camp may already have a page. Claiming it is free and gives you a say in what's on it.
Claiming is done by email for now. Write from an address at your camp's own domain so we can confirm you work there. We reply within two working days.
What claiming gets you
- A reply under any review. Send us your reply and we publish it directly beneath the review, labelled as coming from the camp.
- A correct listing. Fix the description, ages, location or category on your page.
- A way to flag reviews. If a review breaks the review policy, for example it names a staff member or is from someone who never attended, tell us and we'll look at it again.
What claiming doesn't get you
- You can't delete or edit a review because it's negative.
- You can't pay for a better rating, a higher position or the removal of a review.
- You don't have to send anything to your families. Reviews come from campers directly.
Questions directors ask
What about negative reviews?
They get published if they follow the policy, and your reply sits right underneath. A page with only five-out-of-five scores is one parents don't believe. Reviews that attack a named person, or that allege a crime or abuse, are not published; those go through a separate process described in the policy.
How do you know reviewers really attended?
Each review carries a label stating what we checked: that we know the reviewer personally, that we saw a booking confirmation, that we saw photos, or that we couldn't verify it. Unverified reviews say so.
What about campers under 18?
Nobody under 13 can submit a review. Reviewers aged 16 and 17 can post on their own. For reviewers aged 13 to 15 we contact a parent or guardian, and the review is published only after the parent agrees. Only a first name and age are shown, and a parent can ask us to remove their child's review at any time.
What does it cost?
Nothing. Listing, claiming and replying are free. If we introduce paid services for camps later, they will never affect ratings or which reviews are shown.
Can we be removed from the site?
We'll correct anything that's inaccurate. We don't remove a camp's page because it has received criticism, since that would make every other page less trustworthy.
